Getting Started with Gibi

The Gibi master kit includes everything you need to get started. It includes a Gibi GPS tracker, Gibi attachment clip, Gibi smart charger (charging cradle, USB cable, and wall adapter), and quick user guide. When you receive your Gibi tracker, it will have a a specific device ID. This specific device ID is needed to create your Gibi account and subscribe for service. Operation and use requires subscribing to Gibi’s subscription service plan.

Gibi’s subscription service is required for operation and use.  It is your choice of either $15/month or $153/year. That is 50¢/day at the monthly rate and less at the yearly rate. With 1 in 3 pets going missing in their lifetime, it is priceless to know where your dog is 24/7.

Based on your choice of either monthly or yearly subscription, your credit card will be automatically charged monthly or yearly so you don’t have to worry about it.

Coverage, Accuracy & Range

Coverage is where Gibi works. Gibi works in North America (US, Canada, and Mexico) where our cellular provider provides coverage. That coverage is provided by the major cellular carriers to provide our customers with the most expansive coverage in North America.

This means your pet can be anywhere in North America and you can see on an internet-connected smartphone, computer, or tablet where your pet is located from anywhere in the world. For example, if you travel to Europe and your dog is in doggy daycare in the US, you can check your dog’s location on your smartphone while you are in Europe.

With our cellular carrier, you will more than likely have coverage where you are located, but if you would like us to verify coverage in your area, contact us at support@gibitechnologies.com and provide your address.

It does not matter if your smartphone or tablet uses AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, US Cellular, or any other cellular carrier.  Gibi’s cellular service is completely separate and independent from your smartphone or tablet’s cellular service plan.  As long as your smartphone has an internet connection via cellular or Wi-Fi, you can log into your account using the Gibi app to see where your pet is located 24/7.

Gibi uses cellular technology because it is the most reliable, well-established mobile communication network. Coverage is essentially anywhere and everywhere in North America. Gibi’s service does not depend on connecting to your phone’s Bluetooth, Wi-Fi at your home, a base station at your home, or a base station being near your dog, or someone on a “community” or “crowd-sourced” network walking past your missing dog. Gibi just doesn’t want to leave anything to chance because pets are family.

Gibi works in North America, including the US, Canada and Mexico. Sign up for our mailing list and let us know where you would like Gibi to work.

Accuracy is how precise or exact we provide your pet’s location. Gibi‘s location accuracy is 10 feet OUTDOORS, where most pets go missing. That means we let you know your pet’s location within a 10-foot circle. When INDOORS, the accuracy varies depending on the construction of the building and the interference the building causes with the GPS signals. Gibi devices have the best accuracy in urban and wooded environments.

Gibi uses GPS technology because it is the most accurate. Gibi trackers receive signals from multiple GPS satellites for the most precise accuracy even in urban and wooded environments.

Most likely not, because houses and buildings cause interference with GPS signals. Gibi‘s location accuracy is 10 feet OUTDOORS, where most pets go missing. That means we let you know your pet’s location within a 10-foot circle. When INDOORS, the accuracy varies depending on the construction of the building and the interference the building causes with the GPS signals.

Gibi’s range is unlimited and essentially anywhere and everywhere.  You can be anywhere in the world and still see where your dog is in North America using the Gibi app with your internet connected smartphone, tablet, or computer.  When you are on vacation or a business trip anywhere around the world, you can see on the Gibi app where your dog walker has taken your dog on his daily walks.  No separate, limited range handhelds or base stations are needed.

Gibi GPS Trackers

Gibi is IP67 waterproof-certified (aceeca.com/handhelds/ip67) for water-loving dogs. Your dog can swim in a lake or beach and even do some diving. Gibi will continue to function just fine!  Please remember to rinse the Gibi device with fresh water after a swim.

Battery life per full charge can be up to two weeks, but it depends on how you use your Gibi and how long your pet is in their Power Saving Zone. Battery life will be reduced if you don’t use the Power Saving Zone, your pet is mostly out of the Power Saving Zone, and if the location “Check-In Rate” is set to a fast interval like every one minute. The faster the location “Check-In Rate,” the shorter the battery life per full charge. The slower the location “Check-In Rate,” the longer the battery life per full charge. Battery life is similar to using your mobile phone more or less often. When using your mobile phone continuously, the battery does not last as long.

Gibi sends low battery alerts via text and/or email in plenty of time as a reminder to charge the Gibi tracker.  Gibi will also send a fully charged alert as a reminder to put the Gibi tracker back on your pet.

Gibi’s dimensions are about 2.6″ x 1.3″ x 0.6″.

Gibi trackers weigh about 35 grams, which is about the weight of 6 U.S. quarters. We like to describe it this way so you can easily pick up six quarters and feel the weight in your hand.

Attaching a Gibi Tracker

Gibi trackers are designed to attach securely to most collars and harnesses found in your local pet store and online. This makes it easy to switch collars for times when your dog gets dirty playing in the mud. There are just so many fabrics, colors, and designs available to choose from. Harnesses require a strap that opens.

The Gibi App

The Gibi app works on both Apple iOS and Google Android smartphones.

Yes, by clicking Pet History to see where your dog has been. You can go back to about one month of locations.

Your Pet's Safe Zones

Safe zones are virtual fences created in your account to define areas where your pet is allowed to safely roam.  It can be in the shape of any polygon. You can have as many safe zones as you would like. We will monitor your pet’s location and let you know if your pet has left or entered a safe zone.

More Information

Microchips (AKA Pet Chips) are simply name tags under your pet’s skin. Microchips do not track pets and do not show their locations on Google Maps. With a microchip, first someone needs to find and capture your pet, then they need to take your pet to a place with a microchip scanner to read the microchip number, then call the microchip company to contact you.

Gibi puts the power in your hands to find your pet with a click of a button on your smartphone and shows you where your pet is on Google Maps. Gibi makes it quick and easy to find a missing pet.
